Postmatic Setup Instructions

Installing the EDD Postmatic add-on

Once the  EDD Postmatic add-on has been downloaded you can install it using the standard WordPress method.

  1. Log into the Administration Panels (Dashboard)
  2. Navigate to Plugins > Add New
  3. Click on the "Upload" link in the horizontal menu under "Install Plugins"
  4. Click the "Browse" button and locate the archive you downloaded
  5. Click the "Install Now" button
  6. Click the "Activate Plugin" link at the end of the installation messages.

Note: You must activate Easy Digital Downloads and  Postmatic beforehand.

Configuring the EDD Postmatic add-on

To add an opt-in checkbox on checkout form:

  1. Log into the Administration Panels (Dashboard)
  2. Navigate to Downloads > Settings > Misc
  3. Check the Postmatic mailing list checkbox
  4. Input the Postmatic mailing list label (This would show on your checkout form. Default: Subscribe to our mailing list?)
  5. Save the settings

To create a front-end management panel for your subscribers:

  1. Navigate to Pages > Add New
  2. Save the page with the shortcode [edd_postmatic_profile]

Customize the templates:

  1. Copy files from plugins/edd-postmatic/templates/ to your current theme's edd_templates directory
  2. Edit the templates in edd_templates directory

About Guest Checkout: If you have EDD's Guest Checkout enabled, Postmatic would still creating WP user accounts for your subscribers. Remember to disable Email subscribers WordPress account credentials when they subscribe on the Postmatic settings page. So, your subscribers would notice that user accounts are created.
