PayPlug Payment Gateway - Set up
Note: The extension this documentation refers to has been discontinued.
PayPlug is a payment gateway that functions in a manner similar to PayPal. When a customer clicks the payment button on the checkout page they're taken to the PayPlug site to finish the payment, and then the customer is taken back to the store site and presented with a purchase complete page.
In order to use the PayPlug payment gateway extension, you must first have a PayPlug account. If you do not have one, it is free to signup.
Important: PayPlug is only available for store owners in certain countries, and the Euro is the ONLY currency it works with.
Settings
Once you have purchased the PayPlug Payment Gateway, install it just like any other WordPress plugin. After it is installed and activated, go to Downloads → Settings → Payment Gateways, and enable the gateway.
Next, scroll down to where it says "PayPlug Payment Settings". Here, in these two fields, you will need to enter your login and your password.
Now click " Save Changes". You are now ready to process live and/or test transactions through the PayPlug payment gateway.
Testing
In order to test whether PayPlug is working you may place PayPlug into Test mode. This is a simple switch in your admin panel, in the top right.
Also make sure the Easy Digital Downloads is in Test Mode. This is set at the top of Downloads → Settings → Payment Gateways.
While in test mode you may make as many transactions as you wish without using real money.
Customer Experience
When the customer goes to the checkout page they'll see the standard EDD checkout button, similar to this:
When they click it they'll be taken to the PayPlug site, where they'll see a payment form that asks for standard Credit Card information:
After filling out the Credit Card form they're presented with a completion page, saying Thank you, as well as a transaction number. It also says that a receipt has been emailed to the customer's email address, and that the customer will be automatically redirected back to the store. The auto redirect has a count down timer, showing how long before the redirection occurs.
After the customer has returned to the store they'll be presented with a Purchase Confirmation page, showing all the usual EDD information, including Payment Status and Payment Method.
